The Growing Popularity of F5L
F5L is gaining importance worldwide. This formula is rapidly becoming a favorite among glider enthusiasts. As the F5L community expands, pilots seek reliable tools to enhance their flying experience. The GlideKeeper Pico responds to this demand. It's an ideal altimeter for these types of planes.
This device is lightweight and slim. It provides a full display to monitor flight results. With the GlideKeeper Pico, pilots can have essential data at their fingertips.
Emergency Motor Debate
We received numerous comments about our initial firmware for F5L. Some users expressed the need for an emergency throttle option. After consultations, we realized there’s an ongoing debate. The question is whether the F5L formula should allow an emergency motor.
This discussion is just one of many in our beloved sport. It's essential for pilots to understand the implications of using an emergency motor.
Two Firmware Choices
The solution from our side is clear. You now have two firmware choices for F5L.
GKP_Fw_F5L_73.30.bin: This version has no emergency motor enabled and is designed for the Pico.
GK_Fw_F5L_71.30.bin: This one is for the GlideKeeper V2 and standard models.
The previously published versions, GKP_Fw_F5L_53.30.bin and GK_Fw_F5L_51.30.bin, will still allow for emergency motor use.
It's crucial to consult your Competition Director about the choice that suits your needs. Your selection may depend on your league or region.

Monitoring Flight Duration
It’s worth mentioning that the PICO (or GliderKeeper) measures the total duration of the flight. Pilots no longer need a dedicated timekeeper. This information can be retrieved via the pullable display on the Pico or through a wireless connection.
Emergency Motor Usage Indication
Monitoring whether an emergency has been used is simple. You can do this via the display. Look for the typical ---.- in the altitude area. Alternatively, check the blue LED indicator. If the blue LED blinks erratically, an emergency has been activated.
There is no need to plug in the display for this information.
Making Your Choice
In conclusion, we have provided two firmware options for F5L. Choose the one that fits your flying style. Consider your location and regulations before making a decision.
We wish you the happiest landings!
